I am a consultant psychiatrist who worked in the NHS for over 30 years, specialising in general adult psychiatry. I worked with the severely mentally ill within inner city deprived communities and have a long-standing expertise in the application of ethics to clinical settings.
In the latter part of my career I had a more strategic role as Medical Director within Central Northwest London Foundation Trust (CNWL), influencing mental health care delivery from a broader perspective and working to address systemic challenges. This role provided not just experience of working within board structures and governance frameworks but also gave me valuable experience of facilitating organisational change through leading clinical transformation and workforce development. I have particular experience in supporting all aspects of flow within mental health pathways, having been instrumental in our trust taking a different approach to the use of our acute beds. I was also clinical lead for CNWL’s Community Transformation programme, for which took an innovative approach to delivering community mental health care differently.
I am an accredited Foundation Executive Coach with the Association for Coaching. I believe taking a curious and honest approach to the coaching space supports people to make the changes they want. I bring to coaching warmth, energy and a sense of humour. Whilst mindful that it is not a therapeutic offer, my style of coaching is undoubtedly influenced both by my experience as a psychiatrist, particularly the core skills of attentive listening and an appreciation of the experience of individuals within a wider context. My managerial experience means I also bring to the coaching space experience of helping others embrace change and become more effective as leaders.
On a more personal level I am married to another doctor and we have four - now adult - children and recent additions to the family with the arrival of our first grandchildren. We moved from London in 2021 where we spent all our working lives to date, to explore pastures new on the South Coast near Hastings.
